Working in the Mills

By: Dolores F. and Cristina G.

From the late 1800’s to the mid 1900’s, the Ludlow Manufacturing Company provided jobs for thousands of people in both Ludlow and Springfield. Over the years factory conditions changed. For example, machinery probably became easier and safer to operate. Many photographs exist from the early 1900’s that show workers inside of the mills operating the machinery.
