The cider mills in Ludlow helped everyone in town. The cider mill stood below a dam and was run by water power. The first cider mill in Ludlow was on Alden Street. This mill got really popular during apple season. It could run all day and night. Apple cider was very important to people because it was pretty much all they drank.

One of the most important and long lasting mills was located very close to our school. It began as one of the earliest sawmills built in the late 1700’s. It later became a cider mill and was owned by Warren Fuller. Fuller had one of the most popular cider mills in town and he made the most cider. He also invented his own apple grater which made making cider easier. Fuller had so many apples that he could usually produce 40,000 gallons of cider a year.
